Just taken delivery of these harnesses for a puppy or little dog from Urban Pup - they are gorgeous and beautifully made. 

I just love the idea they have come up with of these complete harness sets with a matching lead and even a little cap, for puppies and tiny dogs to walk out in style without pulling on their delicate little necks. Aw!

Did you know you can now get tutus and bikinis for dogs?

There was a time when pets didn't really have accessories.  I was brought up on a farm with 2 dogs and 3 cats. The only thing the cats possessed was a sunny window cill to sleep on in the day and the dogs had a collar  - just a plain kind of collar and no ID tag (well, there was no need as everyone knew Lolly and Candy in the village)

I have been totally flabbergasted at the immense range of pet accessories now available - it's a whole new world which I didn't even know existed until coming into this business a month or so ago. So this old fogey (aka puppy grandma) has had to rethink everything dog and cat related.

Over the coming months I will be sharing with you my thoughts on everything from dog coats to comfy cradles for cats and I have to admit I have surprised myself by becoming very fond of some of these pet accessories:-) Some make perfect sense from a safety point of view or for additional pet comfort and some are pure luxuries (and why not!) for our canine and feline family members.

Take this cat cradle for a radiator. I said our cats would sleep on a sunny window cill. How many homes have window cills wide enough to sit a cat? But most have radiators - the next best thing, haha!

And I mentioned dog coats earlier - little dogs get cold easily as can old or sick dogs - why not give them a bit of comfort for their walkies - something to keep them warm and dry in our British weather, just as we would our human family members?
